I know it's been a while since my last update, I'm sorry! The last thing I want to do at the end of my day is get onto the computer and have to think about writing sentences or complete thoughts. So, I'm writing this during a free slot in my day at work!
I'm not sure the last time I updated y'all, so I'll go back to the beginning of summer. I have had a pretty full/fun summer. I have started spending some time with Brian's sister (Lindsay), my favorite thing is to introduce her as my brother's sister, and let people look utterly confused. haha. She invited me my birthday weekend, Memorial Day, down to Myrtle Beach, to crash a bachlorette party. Everything would be covered, except food, so I couldn't turn down a trip to the beach! I went down there and had the best time, and came back with a handful of friends, that live in the city next to mine. The bride to be and her friends were so nice, and willing to let me in and get to know me. The bride to be (Megan) and I hit it off so well that she invited me to her wedding, only a short 3 weeks later. I declined because I was SOOO broke the month of June (we will get to the work situation in a few), that I just couldn't afford another trip, because her wedding was a destination wedding, in the Outer Banks (aka the beach). Lindsay eventually asked me to come, and she would pay for it, because she really didn't want to have to do the 5-6 hour drive to the Outer Banks alone and is super crazy nice. So I accepted, and went to the wedding, and paid for nothing! I had a great time! I've seen those girls a few other times, and have spent some time with Lindsay since then; going to dinner, shopping, etc. I went to the beach 3 times in June, so July and August I spent here in Greensboro. The third trip to the beach in June was when my friend, Shulamis, came down from NY (we went to NYU together) and we went down to Myrtle Beach. It was great to see her and spend some time with her, I miss her so much! The rest of the summer so far has just been working, laying by the pool, or spending time with those friends, or Bri/Mere, and the girls! Both girls had birthday parties this summer, and it was so cool that I was able to be a part of those!
Work. Ok, where to begin. I guess the same time, in May. At the end of May, I was going to elementary schools, doing school based therapy 3 days a week, and in the office 1 day a week, and had Fridays off. Unfortunately school ended, and I was in the office 4 days a week, I was able to build up my schedule with consumers (people), however the no show rate was becoming really high, about 50% of those scheduled in my week where not coming. I was only getting paid for those consumers who showed, when people no show I get basically no pay! So my paycheck was quickly disappearing, and I was worried about how I was going to pay all my bills. I decided to take a new position within the company, so I am now, full time, salaried, and I am now the assessment clinician. Basically that means, that when the person inititally comes in for services, they see me first, and I fill out a 10-12 page form that goes through their current problems, past problems, childhood, social, environments; basically covers every aspect of their life past and present. Then I diagnosis them and send them to the program they qualify for (ie. outpatient in the office, in home services, etc) It's alot more paperwork, and meetings, and other junk I have to go to, but now I'm salaried, and I get paid time off now! YAY! The only struggle is salaried pay checks are once a month, so I have to do some serious budgeting! I'm enjoying the position, just trying to find a balance for after work making it to the gym; because my mind is gone by the end of the day; being therapeutic all day is exhausting. I also took my licensing test this summer, and passed, so I'm all set to get my license as soon as I get all my hours, so next July I will be a full fledged therapist, not just a provisional one! :)
The rest of the summer. In two weeks I'm off to Vegas, with the Canadians! While in Australia we starting planning this trip, we like to plan ahead! lol So we are going for 4 nights, 5 days to Vegas, it will be their first time, and I haven't been since I lived in Cali, so it will be a nice vacation, and it's not as expensive as an international one. My long time friend, Karianne will be flying down from her grad program to join for the weekend too, so I'm really excited to see some of my favorite people in a few short weeks! The weekend after I get back from Vegas, the parents will be in town for a week! They have been wanting to come out and visit, see Hannah and Hailee, and I'm sure Bri, Mere, and me, but they will be in town for a week! Looking forward to seeing them, and spending some time with them, since the last time I saw them was on my LAX layover on my way to Australia in January. Unfortunately I'm taking all my PTO that I've accrued for Vegas, so I will only get nights and weekends with them, but that's better than nothing! :) I will also be flying home for a short visit at Thanksgiving, because Kimmie and Mike will be back home for his leave at that time, so I figured I should go home at Thanksgiving instead of Christmas this year.
Ok, now that I've written a novel, I think that's about it for now.... Life is exciting yet boring. Just planning my next international trip, yes I'm already thinking ahead to my next trip ;)
Bye for now <3
